REJOICE REJOICE REJOICE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Sunday before last I went to eat at a neighborhood restaurant. The next morning I found that the plate of clams I had eaten the night before, were less then properly cooked. A week and a half later... I happy to report that I am finally creating solid waste again.

It was a tough fight, I spent over 60 hour without eating, more then 2 days on liquids alone. I am going to stay away from Chinese food for a few days, and I won't eat clams at that restaurant again.

Its Near!!!

The typhoon is supposed to be huge, but the brunt of it will hit a bit south of Taipei. One never knows exactly if it will change direction. We are to receive a drenching, most of the rain from this storm will fall in the north of the island. I might venture out in to the storm this evening

OH... HOW I LOVE TYPHOON SEASON!!!

Packing winds of 184 kilometers (114 miles) per hour, Sepat is moving toward Taiwan at a speed of 17 kph (10 mph). If Sepat stays at its current course, the fringe of the storm could affect the island early Friday and possibly make landfall over Taiwan at night.

We have had a few storms come by this season, but no direct hits. We got lots of rain, and wind. It wasn't to severe. This one is acting like it is going to run straight up the Island, but It could change course unexpectedly.

I love the weather that precedes the typhoon. The city air is cleaned as large gusts of wind sweep through the streets. In the early stages the sky is still clear and the view of the city from my roof or the neighborhood mountain is crisp and clear; no smog clouds the view. When it is clear I am amazed, one sees distant sights one can not on the average day.

Its starting to rain, and the wind is picking up. I enjoy the thrill...the change in barometric pressure... the wind and all of the aspects of these tropical storms. The biggest dangers are the wind and flooding. Fortunately I feel safe high up in my concrete and steel building, and when I venture out into the storm I make the trips short. Right now I am gearing up to get some bottled water. We will see what morning brings.

BACK IN TAIPEI !

Hello Everyone.

I am back; actually I have been back for almost 2 weeks now. I apologize to all the people I said I would contact when I got back.
I made it safely with little problem. I did almost miss my flight in Manilla Philippines. They change the gate from which it was supposed to leave. Also, in the middle of my flight I was awaken due to the fact that the man seated behind me stated having health problems. Their were flight attendants and a doctor attending to his needs for the duration of the flight. It it kept me from the sleeping I like to do in the middle of the flight. My transpacific flight also had some really crappy movies.

The flight is still interesting to me even though I have crossed the world largest ocean 5 times now. The way they turn on and off the lights, and serve meals is meant to reduce Jet-lag. The trip back was different because we made a stop in Guam. For those who don't know, Guam is a small island and a territory of the U.S.A. They have a huge Navel base there.

One last thing...I would like to send out a get well soon wish to my brother Tim.
Daniel JamesI took this photo months ago. It is in the mountain where I like to run. The sculpture stands in front of a mixed Tao/ Buddhist temple. There are several other great sculptures there. I might publish others someday.
